The video was really interesting. It shows that our success depends on our ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and non-verbally. Verbal and non-verbal communication shapes our interactions and interpersonal relationships. We use verbal communication to inform, and to share our knowledge or to express our needs. Non-verbal communication indicates a person's feelings or level of comfort or discomfort. It is also use to complement the verbal communication.
I had no idea body language was so important as to represent more than 90 percent of what we say and that in the eye of an expert our body is like an open book to be read with truly what we say despite of what words can try to tell. The most interesting thing is that body language goes hidden even to the sender of the message despites his intention. The body exposes the true behind words. One can easily say when other is nervous or stress if knows the regular behavior of the person; nevertheless, all of those thing such as “getting the upper hand” or “putting a hand on some else’s back” could hold an important meaning on non-verbal communication.
Body language actually plays such an important role while speaking in public. The ones who know how to manage it correctly are the ones that everyone loves to listen to. You can easily notice how someone is feeling just by paying attention to his/her body language. That is a really significant part of non-verbal communication. On the other hand, verbal communication is essential to convey the message that you that you are sharing with the audience.
I think the message of the video is that understanding body language or non verbal communication is crucial to achive a better communication. According to what is mentioned in the video, such understanding is even more important than the spoken words. To manage body language allows emphasizing our message. On the other hand, a good interpretation of such languague lets us comprehend better the intention of people in a talk. Karol wrote that body language complements verbal communication, but I would say they both must go together to send a message effectively.
