This video gives many good tips to make a persuasive speech properly. As he mentioned, I consider that the most important point if we want to have a successful persuasive speech, is that you need to care and to agree with your topic. In this way you will have credibility and it will be easy to persuade your audience.
Personally, I consider that choosing your topic is the most important tip he mentions in the video. If you choose a topic that you do not really care much about. Your speech is probably going to be boring because your are not going to enjoy what you are saying. If do not enjoy it, do you think the audience is going to do it ? Of course not. You really have to care about your topic. Also, you need to have a broad knowledge about the topic you choose because it is going to be easy for you to run your speech properly.
You are quiet right Karol. Like we saw last class it was easy for our classmate Pao to talk about cats and convince us they were better that dogs or goats because she do likes them and even had a convincing and moving story were a cat protected her. And for all of that her persuasive speech came natural and credible. On the other hand, we had Jose trying to persuade us that having a spouse is much better than being single. His speech was not as credible as Pao’s, for he is single and therefore did not have the right arguments to defend his position. He had to be creative to bring to the table some good words though that was not enough Nevertheless, let’s not forget that agreeing with your topic by itself is sufficient to convince an audience with people with different believes. You can cause more effect if you come up with numbers or statistics to work on your “logos” and convince those that may not be moved by simple stories.
I agree with you max, the statistic tip is really interesting because if you use it, the statistic information makes your speech more believable, and the idea is that your information changes the mind of people who disagree with your topic. Also with statistics you can evoke feelings for example, if you are speaking about car accidents and it is a high statistic people will be worried or disgust.
Statistics make a speech reliabe and interesting because it make your presentation more believable. Also the point is that the information that you provide bein useful to the audience.
I also agree with the point that being enthusiastic about the topic is the best tip. When you really enjoy your persuasive speech, you are more able to convince people.
